I assure you that this will be the last posting about the trip from Florida. The trip was quite memorable and therefore does warrant at least a couple of postings. Growing up as a kid we use to watch the Disney Sunday Night movie. It typically came on at 7:00pm in the evening. It would always start with the Disney Palace with fireworks going off over it and then the fairy waving her wand. For those that are old enough to remember there were some classic Disney movie favorites like of course Herbie, another that featured a mystery film with Magic Mountain and on and on. There was no Disney Channel with Lizzy Maguire like there is now. The magical thing about going to Disney is that all those things that you saw on TV and in the movies come to life. It is surreal. In some ways you begin to believe that you can escape reality of life and become part of a movie. Maybe just for a weekend at least.
It was just recently within the last 4 years that I had my first opportunity to go to Disney and we went to Universal Studios. They shut down for just the conference attendees and we got to go on all the rides without any wait. It was fun. This time however I enjoyed Disney a different way. I enjoyed it by watching kids have fun dancing and having photo opportunities with all the Disney characters. I enjoyed it by hearing about how my Dad screamed more Portuguese swears in a 30 second period than all his entire life at the first drop on the Thunder Mountain roller coaster. Little did he know when that little train ride would become that scary. I think he figured it out when he saw that there was no conductor for the train and my brother told him that it was a coaster. When he found out it was too late, the people behind him pushed him into the car. Hopefully the kids will look back and remember this vacation with their family (mothers, dads, sisters, brothers, grand parents, aunts, uncles and cousins). In the end that is what life is all about. Enjoying some special times with your family.
