25 De Abril - Happy Independence Portugal

Happy day of independence to Portugal! A fellow Flickr friend/photographer who lives in Portugal reminded with this picture that Portugal has celebrated their 34 year of Independence on April 25. It was the revolution that was accomplished without blood shed. Instead people put carnations in the guns of the soldiers.

My Dad left the country 6 years prior to the revolution. I remember when it happened everybody ( my parents and other immigrants in the US) wondered and worried if Portugal would become a communist state/country. At the time my parents were afraid that they would lose what little they had there. Luckily things turned out for the best and Portugal became a democracy.

Here is the picture BB my Flickr friend took.

Vimeo allows you to truely broadcast films

I discovered a really interesting web site that overcomes many of the limitations of YouTube. The site is called Vimeo. It allows you to upload very large files and doesn't impose a time limit or size limit on videos. It also has superior quality video upto HD quality. In any case I have started uploading some of my family videos for private sharing. If you want to see them drop me a note with your id after you sign up and I'll give you access.

Christmas 96 at the Lewis' from Carlos on Vimeo.

I also produced a video last year about birth, life and death. It is up on the site. vimeo Check the site out it is pretty cool. It looks like they are just ramping up. I hope they will be able to continue to offer the free access and 500 meg capacity each week offer. I also updated my previous URI movie post with an higher resolution of the Vimeo Movie.

Belated Happy Easter

Been traveling quite a bit recently. I am finally getting around to Easter. I typically celebrate holidays on the blog 1 month after they happen. You are probably starting to figure out that I enjoy taking photos of dinner tables at special events. Tony and Maria put on a very nice dinner for Easter. Check out my cute little nieces. They were first ones at the table. They don't mess around when it's time to eat.

Oh how time flies

Seems like one day you are doing epic Star War Battles out doors to "hey Stars isn't cool Dad." I was browsing through some older photos this evening. I liked this one a lot. Of course the ones that I usually like and everyone else on Flickr likes are my wife's photos. The cool thing is my son is getting into the guitar so we now play guitar together. It's really nice having some quite time together.

Las Vegas?

Personally I think Las Vegas is the type of place you go to one time to experience and never go again. Unfortunately work has me going back there often. Each time I return I recall how over the top the entire city is including the people, hotels and performers. Funny how you forget the odd smell of the casinos but it all comes back quickly after you arrive. I really didn't have time to take a lot of pictures on this trip. The only photos I took were from my hotel room below. Fortunately I got to see the B52's in concert in the conference that I was at. I was literally about 25 feet away from the stage and performers. The band sounded great live and their new album actually sounds great. I also got to go to Cirque Du Soleil the Ka show at MGM. It was perhaps one of the most amazing theater performances I have ever seen. It was worth seeing if you ever get an opportunity to see them.
