Clambake!!!!!!!

What a great party Maria and Tony put on. A traditional clambake. The clams tasted great and so did the clam chowder! It was a great event the whole family came. We missed you Marta. Hope you trip in Argentina is going well. We were bummed we had to leave a early. Uncle Tony jamming "Sweet Home Alabama" on the electric guitar. Who needs Rockband. You sounded great Tony! I was able to easily get to the airport on time. I got here at 8:45 and was checked in and through security in 15 minutes. So I have 2 hours to go before I get on my flight. Plenty of time to logon and do an entry in the blog. You know you are traveling too much when you know where to go in Terminal E to get the good chairs that have the leg rests and easy access to power and wireless. I took pictures but I didn't bring my camera with me to upload them. I'll upload them when I get back. Look for some blog entries from France in the next couple of days. Hope all of you are well.

I'm a lucky man

I was watching a video that I created as a gift for my mom and dad as a Christmas gift about 3 years ago. The kids started watching it but then lost interest in seeing the whole thing. You might enjoy or you may get bored too. Enjoy. You need to have a membership to vimeo.com to watch this and be on my friends list. I couldn't publicly share it because it has a lot of family members in it that I haven't gotten permission to show publicly on the web.

Need some time...

Every once and a while you need some time alone. It's been a while since I got out with my brother and friends. So in typical last minute style I called my brother and friends to go out in Providence. We ended up deciding on Newport. A 2 hour car ride down and a 2 hour ride back at 1 am in the morning. As usual I struggled to stay awake on the ride home. Lou you missed a great band playing at the Pelum. Catch ya next time. John made the hall from CT. Anyways I discovered that they have given the Newport bridge a new name. The Pell Newport Bridge as it is called was lit up in fog. I liked the fog effect on this one. I shot this one through the sunroof while we waited at the toll booth.

It was a pretty busy weekend. Got to see my son participate in his karate tournament. The format of the tournament wasn't that great. Wasn't the greatest experience but it was a learning experience for all of us. Sometimes you don't get the luck of the draw but you need to be prepared for that.

It takes people to make a community.

People are who make a place a community. People who volunteer their time to make where they live a better place for others in the town. This unselfishness is what makes the difference between a town that people refer to as a bedroom community versus a town where people know and care about each other. A bedroom community is where all you do in that community is sleep. The rest of the time you are elsewhere like work, vacation or some other community. We are fortunate that my wife can contribute a significant amount of her time helping our schools. She volunteers in the schools and also raises money for the schools. This year she was recognized by the community as one of the top 10 volunteers in the our two towns. The whole family got to celebrate seeing her be rewarded and thanked by the community in the community house. It was a very proud moment for the entire family to see their mother be recognized.

Runs in the Family

Photography runs in the family. My smart, athletic, genius and creative daughter took this picture. It is that time of the year when you pick strawberries. I didn't get to participate :-( because I had to work. The nephews also had fun getting strawberry juice all over their chins.

Photographer gets photographed

Funny as I get older I try to remember more and more of the simple messages that my dad told me growing up. I think it is because I want to heed all the advice he had given me through out my life but was too busy to listen. Some of those messages he repeated over and over again. I have shared some of them in my previous blog posts. I guess that is one of the reasons I write on the blog is so that some day my kids and their kids will be able to remember. Remember the things that might help them get by in life and maybe enjoy it more or survive it in the tough times as a result of getting prepared during the good times.

I don't often get to be photographed since I am usually the one doing the shooting. This picture was taken by Marc, who is an incredible photographer and a very special friend. Some of the nicest pictures of Susan and I were taken by him. So friends that haven't seen me in a while, here I am. I don't look like you remember. You too don't look like the way I remember you. But all of us still have the same heart. "I am Rhode Island born and Rhode Island bred and when I die I will be Rhode Island dead!"

Fathers Day and GO Celtics!

In Europe they have some very cool water fountains. Well Boston now has a pretty cool one too thanks to Big Dig. This Dad was watching his son chasing the shooting stream of water as moved clockwise from opening to opening around the fountain. His Dad was chasing him his little digital flash camera. He must have taken about a dozen pictures. I caught this one and I really liked it. I had a really nice fathers day. Lunch with my family and my mom and dad.

Celtics are playing the LA Lakers. GO CELTICS! I got to go downtown and take some photos today. They had Celtics Banners everywhere downtown.
